Let the countdown begin.

The last time I saw J in Oklahoma was April 27 at around 12:45pm - that's the day he left for BMT.  The last time I saw J in person was June 27 at about 3:00pm - the Sunday before he started tech school and the last day of graduation weekend.

The next time I'll see J in person - and in Oklahoma - is in 17 days.  October 15.  That's when he comes home.

It's been a long five months without him.  And I've been waiting for the [almost] two-week countdown to come to pass, because it's sucked being without him.  Sure, we've lived in two different cities for a good majority of our relationship/marriage, but at least I got to see him every weekend.  At least I got to talk to him every day.  During the past five months though, I've spent chunks of four days with him - which, when you add up the actual time together, comes out to less than 24 hours.  I was supposed to go visit - twice - but both times, things fell through.  I won't be able to make his graduation because of work, but at least he'll be home soon after.

I give major props to the wives who have gone through deployments.  I feel like such a big baby, missing J as much as I have during our time apart.  For crying out loud, he's just been in training.  I think just being separated like this, and not having ANY time together at all for such a long period of time, has been a huge adjustment.  I haven't even seen a picture of him in three months.  I don't even know what he looks like anymore - if he's kept his hair short, if he's lost/gained weight...and I haven't sent him pictures of me or JJ in just about as long, so he has no idea what's going on with us, either.  Granted, I haven't changed much, but JJ has definitely gotten bigger and is looking older than the last time J saw him.

Soon, he'll be moving to CO - and we'll make the move next year.  I'm not looking forward to separating again, but at least when he makes the move, I know that JJ and I will be right behind him.  It's nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel - finally.

Let the countdown begin.

Holy lack of updates Batman.

I just realized it's been more than a month since I updated...and it's been quite a month! I'm not even sure where to start when it comes to updating...all I know is, I'm gonna do a better job of keeping this updated.

I guess I'll post a quick update and do a more thorough one later. J is officially an Airman - he graduated on June 24th from Air Force BMT. He lost a good 10-15 pounds...and looks UHmazing. I'm so proud of him!!!

It was so great to spend four whole days with him...it went by fast, but it was good to see him. I can't even tell you how anxious I was in the days leading up to graduation...the 8.5 weeks he was gone flew by, once I looked back at it. Now, he's back at Lackland for tech school and should be finishing sometime in October. We got orders over the weekend, and we're moving to Florida next year. I'm still adjusting to that...welcome to the Air Force!

After J's graduation, I went with my family and JJ to Orlando. That was SO fun. My "little brother" got us into Universal for a discounted rate - and we got to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!

I have more I could post, but I'll save it for now. All I can say is, that park was AMAZING. I was a little skeptical about how true it would be to the movie, but it was just about spot-on. And Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey...the best ride EVER. I can't wait to go back.

We also got to spend a day at DisneyWorld (for free!).

I have more I could post from there, too, but I think this post has enough pictures. I can't believe I went to DisneyWorld - it was SO fun!!!! This whole vacation was so much more than I was expecting - and I could actually enjoy it this year. :)

Now, life has settled back in. I'm anxiously counting the days until football and NBA season, I'm nervous about how this whole moving thing will go, and it's hotter than Hades outside. Summer is in full swing, but not for long - school starts in five weeks. Seems like they just got out yesterday! Sheesh!

I'll update my actual 101 in 1001 list later - I've got a few to add to it. I promise not to go so long without updating again!

Oh the life of the military.

I was born into the military. My dad had been in for a few years when I was born, and I spent 19 years of my life as an Army brat. I was blessed to only have moved twice during that time, and that my dad was never deployed. Sure, he was gone a lot because of his MOS, but he was still around. After the Army, he worked at my old school until he got his current position.

Right before my last semester of college, my dad got sent overseas for a year. During that time, I found out I was pregnant, graduated from college, got my first big kid job and had JJ. For the first time in my life, I felt like my dad missed out on so much. Of course, pictures and technology allowed for him to be there more than I ever thought he would, but still. It wasn't the same. Soon, he'll be leaving again, and I can feel the dread building again. J and I want to try to get pregnant again, JJ will turn 2 in December, we may be moving away due to the Air Force...I feel like all the major things that could take my life in a different direction will probably happen while he's gone again. I know that he's doing what he loves, and I support him 100 percent...but it still makes me sad. I just try to keep thinking that one day closer to when he leaves is one day closer to him being home again.

J had Warrior Week this past week - he graduates in less than two weeks now! I've been surprised at how much communication I've had with him since he's been gone. He's gotten to call the past three Sundays, and I've gotten four letters from him while he's been gone. He's gotten all the letters and pictures I've sent him, too. I was expecting to only hear from him one or two times while he was gone, so this whole process has been much easier than I thought it would be. Yeah, I still miss him (a lot), but being able to get letters from him and hear his voice once a week has made it easier. The only bad thing is that he generally calls while JJ's napping, so he's gotten to talk to me but not to our little boy. I'm hoping that if he gets to call later today, he'll be able to talk to JJ - finally.

I'm so anxious and excited about graduation that it's all I think about. Eight long weeks apart are finally drawing to a close...I can honestly hardly believe it. He left at the end of April, and we're already at the middle of June. So, not only has time absolutely flown, but we're already almost halfway through the year. Absolute craziness. I know in the grand scheme of the military life, eight weeks probably isn't a long time - but it's the longest I've EVER gone without seeing J. It's new to me.

My mom wasn't kidding. The military way of life is way different when you're a child and when you're a spouse. When you're the kid, you don't really have any worries or can grasp just what everything means. But now that I'm a future Airman's wife...my entire prospective on things has changed. I feel like I have so much to learn about the Air Force, but I'm not really quite sure where to begin. All I know is, I'll miss my dad a lot once he leaves, but I know he'll come home. And I miss my husband a lot, but we're in the home stretch. I can't put into words just how proud of him I am...but I'm hoping that I'll find some way to show him when I get to see him.

Oh the life of the military. It's fast approaching...

6.08.2010

It's all coming together.

The past couple of years have been a little rocky for me and J. Relationship-wise, we were doing OK, but we were struggling to make our married parenthood life work. I mean, when you go from engaged to married with an infant in the span of mere months, things change and move very quickly. Yes, we talked about the dreaded "D" word - but at the end of the day, I love him. I really, really love him. We stuck it out and are doing so much better now.

Now, it's time to balance our lives from the days when JJ was little and money was tight. We're not up in our eyeballs in debt, but I would feel better if we could get the balances down. We are slowly, but surely, getting there - I was able to add to no. 29, which was to pay off another credit card. I've been working on this card for months and had the money saved to pay it off. Every small victory counts, right?

J got to call me on Sunday...it was so good to hear his voice. I miss him and am anxiously counting the days until I get to hop in the rental and head to San Antonio for his graduation. I knew that getting through eight weeks of little contact would be hard, but the last week's been harder than it was at first. I think it's because I can actually count in my head the number of days until I get to see him again, and I'm anxious and excited. He sounds like he's in the right spot and enjoying what he's doing down there - I'm so proud of my future Airman. We should get orders next week, which makes me a little nervous...but I'm ready.

I joined the iPhone world this weekend. I thought I would NEVER say that, but it's true. I ditched the Blackberry, got an iPhone 3GS, and I.love.it. How did I go this long without it?! How did I resist its awesomeness?! I don't think I'll be able to go back after this, honestly. I already have more than two pages of apps, and it's SO easy to use. I've even gotten used to typing on a touchscreen, and I bought it Saturday. I think J's going to get the iPhone 4G that was announced today, but I don't care. I'm happy with what I got. He can have the new fancy phone. :) I think my phone cover will be here by the end of the week, which is awesome. It makes me nervous to not have a phone cover right now since I'm not the best person with phones. At one point in my life, I replaced five phones in a year. Yeah. I need a phone cover.

J and I also joined the Wii world. I didn't want to tell him, but I told him on Sunday when he called. He's excited, I'm excited, and it's about time we got our own Wii. We even got the new black one, which he was REALLY stoked about (of course - he loves having the latest stuff). I think it'll be here at the end of the week. I guess it's time to start looking for games...and asking my parents if we can "borrow" Rock Band...

So, our lives are all coming together. Our son is growing before our eyes, and I think words are FINALLY starting to come to him. J's graduation is mere days away, I think we're doing family portraits this fall...I just feel so content with my life right now. A year ago, I couldn't have said the same thing. I mean, I was happy, but I was stressed. Worried. Not the person I am now. But now that things are coming together and I'm realizing just how great I have it...I'm happy. I'm content. And I'm blessed.

As an endnote: I can also add to no. 60. I finished "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin on Saturday. I couldn't freaking put the book down. It was SO good! I'm going to find "Something Blue" and start reading that soon, and I'll probably re-read "Love the One You're With." I also donated another $10 to ACS through a friend's Relay for Life campaign. I just wish I could be the one to use the restaurant card instead of my sister. :P

Time to update!

I've been putting this blog post off because I just haven't had the time to sit down and update. But now, I'm forcing myself to update - especially since I finally brought my Project 365 blog up-to-date. :)

So. It's June 2nd. Um, where has the year gone?! I know I say that a lot, but I really do mean it. This year just seems to be flying by, lemme tell ya. That's fine with me, because my favorite season is fast approaching (fall/winter)...but now, summer's unofficially here, and I'm so thrilled! I'm not thrilled about the hot temps, but I'll get used to it.

I do have a couple of updates. My sister and I met some friends at a new restaurant on Friday, Cafe do Brasil. I've never had Brazilian food, so I was pretty excited about it (and, it was payday, so it was time to have some fun). I had this garlic chicken, greens, a special mix the make with beans and some other stuff...I also had two mixed drinks, and the whole dinner was DELISH.

Good food, awesome convo, new friends made, photo shoot in the bathrooms with the creepy mural people...it was a FUN night. Cap it off with drinks/dessert at Red Prime Steakhouse and dancing at Skyy Bar (where we got in free!), and it was a really fun night. I needed it.

We're almost three weeks out of J's graduation, and I am SO excited. He called me on Memorial Day and called last week. The more days that go by, the more I miss him - and the more excited I get that we're more than halfway through basic. We should find out our duty station soon, so we'll see what happens after that. I'm really hoping we get to stay close, but we'll see. We'll go where the Air Force takes us. I'm so proud of him - he sounds like he's in right spot and working hard. I can't wait to see him.

I have so many thoughts running through my mind and so many things that have happened, but I'm too tired to recount them. Let's see...enrollment started at work for the new freshmen. It's been fun, but exhausting. I'm getting better at this whole making dinner thing, I'm now a coupon diva that doesn't go anywhere without my coupon bag (I took a pic of it and put it on my Project 365 blog), I love having the ability to go to the Commissary again (i went on post three times last weekend just because i could)...things are going well right now. I love it!

Summer's in full swing, which means the BBQs, the vacations and the hot weather have settled in. I'm hoping to hit the water park soon and maybe have a dinner party - but we'll see how things go. Right now, I'm honestly focused on making it to the end of June, when I get to see J again. Did I mention that I miss him tons?

Hope everyone had a great, safe holiday weekend! Hellllllllo summer!

Much better now - and update to list!

So, after venting in my last entry, I felt better...but sounded like a whiny baby. Now, everything's actually better. :)

But first, to the crazy weather. We had a tornado come through town on Wednesday! I wouldn't put an exclamation point after it if there had been any major damage, but luckily, the tornado didn't actually drop in town. Some people I know got some sweet video and pics of it, but I was too busy panicking in the basement of Wentz to really care about what was going on outside at the time. The funny thing is, I had no idea we had a tornado coming until I got home. I'd been busy at work that afternoon, so I hadn't had a chance to check the weather before I left. I heard people talking about tornadoes when I picked up JJ from daycare, but I thought they were talking about another town. I went back to my apartment and saw people leaving...it's usually never that empty after work. Went inside, checked the weather, saw we had a tornado coming towards us and peaced out.

We were able to make it to McDonald's to get JJ dinner and get to Wentz in plenty of time - the sirens didn't even start sounding until 15 minutes after my friend and I got settled in downstairs. We hung out there for a good two hours before we finally headed home. Luckily, there was no major damage (just some roof damage, downed trees and lost power), and nothing else hit that night. I hadn't realized until today just how bad the situation could've gotten, so I'm glad I'm one of those people who takes the weather seriously and bolts when even the slightest hint of something is headed our way. And that was my first real tornado...I've lived here nearly 16 years and had always been through false alarms, but never one that touched down near me. Whoa!

I got my military ID today. I had an ID until I was 22, but I never really used it. Now that I realize the value of Commissary shopping, BX shopping, free gyms and military discounts, I'm more than excited to have it back. Besides, I couldn't really get on base by myself anymore since I had a sticker but no ID. I'm so excited about it, I might actually get up and go to the Commissary tomorrow morning. Maaaaaaybe. :) Now comes the task of getting enrolled in all of our insurances. I wish I could drop mine with OSU; two months' premium for my medical insurance would pay for an entire YEAR of insurance through the Air Force. Isn't that insane?! Note: when doing anything, make sure you know sponsor's SSN, have copy of SS card/marriage license/two forms of ID ready, and have all paperwork in order!

I get to add another one to my list...my sister and I went to the movies last night for a sister date night (plus our friend Jason). We saw Shrek Forever After in 3D, and it was AWESOME! I got a little teary-eyed at the end because this is the final movie in the series, and they showed clips from the last three movies in the final credits. It was kinda sad...but the movie itself was awesome. It was my first midnight showing (i'm such a kid, i know...i choose my first midnight showing to be a shrek movie), and there were some other people in the theatre...but for the most part, it was empty. We decided to go see it on a whim, and I'm glad - I do NOT feel like dealing with little kids and crowds to see that movie tonight. I'm hoping I get to add another movie to my list next weekend when I go see SATC 2. :)

Things are going better and settling down, thank goodness. This week's been a roller coaster, but we made it through in one piece. I'm looking forward to the weekend so that I can kick back, eat some yummy homemade food, recipe plan and catch up on sleep. AND, next weekend's Memorial Day weekend, so we get an extra day! Yay!

OH! One more thing. I forgot to check off no. 13 in my last entry, which was to get JJ's birth certificate. So glad we have that now!

Enjoy your weekend!

Another book down!

http://amyletinsky.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/confessions-shopaholic.jpg

So. I finished my next book just a little while ago:

My sister owns a lot of her books, and I found it in her room - so I took it and started reading it. I'd seen the movie and never read the book, so I was curious to see how true the movie was to the book.

Um...yeah. The movie was almost nothing like the book. I was sorely disappointed, because the book was an awesome read. I'm pretty sure 85 percent of what was in the book didn't land in the movie at all. No wonder my sister said the movie was dumb.

The book centers on Rebecca Bloomwood, a financial journalist by day but fashionista and shopping guru by heart. This girl just cannot figure out how to save and pay down debt. She wants to buy everything she sees, no matter if she needs it or not. The tale weaves through her life of desperation, loneliness, unhappiness...then to peace, acceptance and happiness. I much prefer the book to the movie and am now going to dig through my sister's old room to find Sophie's other books.

I will say that I thought Rebecca daydreamed just a little too much for my liking. She read into everything WAY too much, which is kinda how the last book I read went. Maybe I just don't have the patience for that type of daydreaming, but it made the novel drag on a little bit too long for me. And, I will admit, the daydreaming parts almost made me put the book down and forget about it. But once I got halfway through it, I fell in love and finished in no time. What a surprise read.

Today will probably be a busy day for us. We have some minor Air Force emergency to take care of today, then we'll head on base so I can (hopefully) get my ID card. Both JJ and I were down with food poisoning over the weekend, so I hope our stomachs can handle the one-hour drive (especially his). Hope everyone had a great weekend!

5.15.2010

We just got a letter...

Well, we did a couple of days ago...but still. We got a letter from J. :)

It was longer than I thought it would be. When he called on Mother's Day, he mentioned that he's super busy, so I thought I'd get a "Hi, kiss JJ, love you" letter. I got a pretty long letter from him about how basic's going, how his day's going...he said he's the leader of his element, so he's been a pretty bright target for his drill instructors. I'm just glad he's hanging in there - and that I heard from him! I've been continuing to write him every day, and I send out two batches of letters twice a week. The longer he gets into basic, the more proud I am of him. I can't wait until his graduation...and, I'm almost ridiculously excited that I get my military benefits back on Monday when I head to base. :P

Nothing new to add to my list just yet. I'm waiting for my autographed copy of "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin to come in so that I can read that book, and I'll probably head to the Stillwater Public Library on Tuesday to check out the other two books she's written that I haven't read yet. I started reading "Confessions of a Shopaholic," but since I've seen the movie, I just can't get into the book. Sad.

JJ's half birthday's coming up, and I can't help but think about the fact that soon, my little boy will be TWO. I've found myself wondering where time's gone, how in the world my pregnancy and JJ's first year went by so fast...it just doesn't make sense. When I was younger, time dragged on forever. I mean, a year of my life back then felt like an eternity. Now, a year of my life is like the blink of an eye. For crying out loud, it's the middle of May. J's already almost three weeks into basic. It just doesn't make sense.

I have a new "hobby," of sorts, that I've gotten really good at: coupon clipping. The past year, I've wasted I don't know how much money just going into Wal-Mart, picking up whatever and dashing out. Recently, I realized that we've got to do a better job on saving money, so I started clipping coupons. I joined couponmom.com, coupons.com, and I followed a few people on Twitter who talk about discounts and stuff. I quit buying the Sunday paper awhile ago, but I buy The Oklahoman on Sunday just for the coupons. Well, it's been paying off. The first time I actually consciously used coupons at Wal-Mart, I saved $30 (that combined with rollbacks). Today, I had to do another round of big shopping, and I saved $25 (including rollbacks). I've only spent $215 on groceries the past month, and I usually spend $350-$400. It's amazing how much you can save when you shop smart. Granted, I spent more than an hour in Wal-Mart today, but it was totally worth it. Seeing my grocery bill go from $108 to $89 was so thrilling. :)

It's time for me to clean up our place - JJ and I are staying in Stillwater this weekend and have had quite the day together. I wish the weather had been better, because I really wanted to take JJ to the zoo with his aunt, but maybe we'll go next weekend instead. It's been raining and storming all week...it's like spring decided to hit all at once, then the temps are going to jump to summer mode. Just when I thought we'd get an actual spring season this year...wishful thinking!

5.05.2010

Late-night blogging

I've got to stop blogging at 2am...but I always tend to fall asleep, get waken up by something JJ does in his sleep, then stay up for a little while. Ugh.

I get to add another to my list - I FINALLY used my crockpot yesterday!

I made beef stew for dinner, and it was SO good. I was terrified that I'd come home, find that I didn't put enough liquid in the crockpot and had consequently set my apartment on fire, but it was perfect! I was thrilled - and am now encouraged to use it more. I've fallen in love with it. :)

My mom read me the postcard I got from J on Monday. It sounds like it's a generic one, but I don't care. At least I got SOMETHING from him while he's gone. I've been really good at writing him everyday and sending letters to him three times a week...I don't expect to hear from him, but I hope he's getting the letters and taking in a little taste of home.

JJ's been super fitful lately. I'm pretty sure he's going through his Terrible Twos already - which isn't bad, since he's not a super bad kid. But he's into throwing things (especially when he's mad or doesn't need it anymore), isn't sleeping all that great, and he's been into throwing tantrums at the littlest thing. I'm not quite sure how to handle it just yet but try to be stern with him when he does something like that. I just don't know if it's getting to him that throwing things isn't nice. On a different note, he's catching on to things SUPER quick.

He knows that keys go into the door and the mailbox, that his comb goes through his hair, that his thermometer goes in his ear, that the water bottle is used to wet his hair in the morning, that DVDs and books go on the shelf...it's amazing how fast he's picking up on things. He's not really saying words yet (which is worrying me, since he turned 17 months yesterday), but he's babbling away and finding ways to communicate to me what he needs. He doesn't have any other developmental delays, and he was a late walker...so I'm thinking that he's a little behind because of all his ear infections. Regardless, I'll definitely be asking about it at his 18-month appointment in June, and we'll see an ear specialist if the need arises.

I'm hanging in there right now. I miss J - especially with Mother's Day coming up - but the separation hasn't been nearly as bad as I thought it would. It's been really easy to keep busy with JJ around, and J's already been gone a week (and it was a fast week). Work's been slow this week, but with the end of the year coming up (last day is friday), we'll be busy with grade checks and such next week. I had my first performance review at work today and did very well, which was surprising and encouraging. I hope to continue to do well at my job. I'm nervous about freshman enrollment, but I've got great co-workers who have been extremely helpful already. It's nice to be in an environment that's so open and supportive.

I should probably get back to bed. Before I do, I'd like to say that the recent death of a Virginia lacrosse player by a fellow player makes me sick. I can't imagine what that girl felt during her last moments, and I can't imagine what would possess the guy to do something like that. I'm trying very hard not to pass judgement against this guy, but it's so hard when the facts are slowly coming out. I just hope everyone involved finds peace and that the entire truth comes out.

Oh yeah. And Finals Week always makes me glad that I'm not in college anymore. But I'm REALLY starting to miss it...

4.30.2010

Truckin' along.

So the last couple of days with J being in basic really haven't been that bad. I got my phone call the first night he was there [totally wasn't expecting it until later this week or even next week] - he spit his address at me, told me he loved me and hung up. I hope I got it right...I've already written him a letter for every day he's been gone. Yeah, it may be overkill, but it mostly talks about JJ and sports: our two fave topics.

Of course I miss him, but I'm just ready to see him again. Time's going by at a decent clip, too - I mean, this weekend is the first day of May already. Four months of the year are already gone. OSU graduation is next weekend. Before I know it, J will be done, we'll get our first duty station, and JJ will be two. I'm pretty sure time's been flying by faster the older I've gotten.

I got a new book earlier this week that I can't put down. It's called "The Book of Awesome," and it's a spin-off of a blog this guy wrote about things that make you go "Awesome!" This book is SO fun, and each item puts a smile on my face and has me in total agreement. The list isn't numbered, so I'm not sure how many he lists in the book or how many more I have to read...but I'm about 3/4 of the way done and love it. This'll be a book I bust out every now and then for a good smile. Oh, and I found out that I can check out books from the on-campus library, so that's where I'll be headed this weekend. I have a couple of books in mind I want to read right away...including Emily Giffin's books that I haven't read yet. Maybe I can drop by tomorrow during lunch...

Started looking at other daycare options, since we've had some issues with where he's at now...but none of them are as good or exprienced as where he's at now. This whole stay-at-home mom thing is really starting to sound good, but we need both our salaries [for now] to make ends meet. One day, it'll all work out.

It's late, and I'm finally getting tired again. Time to toss the clothes in the dryer, finish dishes and head to bed with little man. Game Six of the Thunder-Lakers series is tonight...can't wait! THUNDER UP!

4.27.2010

A new chapter.

I should be in bed...and I'm finally getting tired...but my mind's still kinda moving right now, so it's impossible to fully settle down.

J left for basic today...well, he reported. He flies out of OKC tomorrow to start eight weeks of training [hopefully it's only eight]. This past weekend was one of the hardest weekends every - my big girl panties definitely disappeared. I lost track of how many times I cried this weekend - had a huge breakdown Sunday night before we went to bed. I keep telling myself that he's not getting deployed, that he's only going to basic and tech school...but it's still hard. The hardest part will be spending eight weekends away from him and not being able to call/text him. I'm hoping his unit does well during basic so that I get to hear from him often. I already have a journal that I'm using to write him, and I'm getting ready to write him his first letter. I'll be anxiously waiting by the phone the next few days, waiting to hear his voice at basic. Mentally, I'm already counting the weeks until this is over.

I spent the day with JJ and hung out around the house. I still feel weird, knowing that J's gone and our Air Force life is close to beginning...I feel like my life has changed. It's hard to describe. I felt this type of shift when I got engaged, when I found out I was pregnant, when I moved into my first place, when I got married...and now, with this. I'm just hoping and praying that J does well at basic and becomes a strong, proud Airman. I'm already proud of him for this major step - I just miss him. A lot.

I did finish reading my second book over the weekend - Moloka'i by Alan Brennert.

It got a little long, but it was an AMAZING book. It's the tale of Rachel, a little girl stricken with leprosy and sent from O'ahu to Moloka'i to live out what many thought would be her last days. Instead, she lives a long, full, prosperous life, full of love, loss, joy and sorrow. It got a little long for me at times, but the story was just incredible. Being Hawaiian, this struck a nerve with me, because I was reading a part of my mom's homeland's history, too. I was trying to imagine what Moloka'i, O'ahu, Maui would've looked like back then....still many years from statehood but already being invaded by the Americans...amazing how time changes things. I can't wait to read "Honolulu"...maybe I'll head to OSU's library and check it out or get a library card at the public library. I feel like the reading bug has finally bit me again...it's been laying dormant for awhile, but this year, I've already read a book a month. That's A LOT for me, considering for the past six years, I haven't read more than seven books for pleasure [if that].

This past weekend, we had the chance to attend Game Four of the Thunder/Lakers playoff series.

I'm still so stoked about that game. We had the opportunity to purchase amazing tickets, and we did - in the lower level, behind the basket. The most fun thing was that J was actually impressed and excited about the game. I think he was more hype than me at times. :) The Thunder blew out the Lakers, and the series got pushed to six. Lucky for us, we also have tickets to that game - not nearly as close as we were on Saturday, but hey. Considering the game sold out in 10 minutes and NO ONE could get tix, I'm insanely lucky to have four for the game. I'm so excited about it! Thunder Up!

I would write more, but my eyes are feeling droopy, and I HAVE to write that letter to J before I go to bed - my goal is to write him a letter every day that he's gone. My mind keeps flipping to him, but I have plenty to keep me busy - namely JJ, and I think I'll start GRE preps and looking into grad programs. Besides the baby fever, the school bug's bitten me...I'd like to start soon. I also scored at Hobby Lobby - their scrapbooks and paper were half off - so I got JJ's scrapbook and will start on that soon. I just need to wade through all the pics of him that I have...

*To my incredible husband: I am so proud ot be your wife and am grateful for the sacrifice you're making for us, our country and yourself. I'm anxious, excited, nauseous, thrilled, scared...all these emotions wrapped into one. Good luck at basic, and I can't wait to see you in June. I love you. - Wifey*

Add to nos. 6, 22, 65; cross off no. 84!

It's been a few days since I last blogged...it's been kinda stressful around here the past couple of weeks. J has this amazing opportunity with the Air Force that's kinda put some things on hold. I'm so excited for him and am supporting him 150 percent, but I'm also very nervous about it. This whole thing is why I changed no. 5 from throwing him a party for his 25th to throwing him a party after BMT. There just isn't time, no one's going to be around, and things are really unpredictable right now. I'll also have to put our date nights on hold until after he gets back from BMT and school, so it could take a little bit to get that one done. At least we'll get four date nights in before he leaves.

Speaking of date nights, we went on one last Friday - bowling. We bowled three games, and I sucked really bad at it, but I broke 100 two out of three games [bowled 125 my last game!] and had fun with my husband. We were gonna go to the movies, but I didn't really want to see anything that was out, so we went bowling instead. Definitely a good decision. We'll have another date night this weekend since our one-year wedding anniversary is this weekend. Holy cat. We've been married for almost a year! I'll blog on that one this weekend. :)

J and I also got our first Powerball ticket together - and my first ever, so I crossed off no. 84! We bought it at EZGo this past Saturday:

J filled out the ticket, and I gave him the numbers. We didn't win, of course, but it was fun to pick numbers. I'm sure we'll play again this weekend...well, maybe.

I added another to nos. 22 and 65...no. 22 was to go on a date night with my sister, and no. 65 was to see 15 movies in theatres. I added to both when I went to the movies with my sister on Monday to see:

I wasn't quite sure if I'd like it, but it was pretty good! It had some freaking hilarious moments, too. I'd watch it again - and probably laugh just as hard as I did in the theatre. It was my first time going to Tinseltown in OKC, and that theatre's pretty awesome! AND, I only paid $5.75 for my ticket - without having to use any sort of ID or anything. Cheapest freaking theatre I've been to for a night showing in a long time. Love it.

That's all I got for now. I'm excited about our anniversary this weekend...I'm going to start my project 365 then, too. I can definitely take a picture every day, but I probably won't post them every day - will probably post them every other day. Life's about to get really hectic for us, so I can't promise I'll be able to post every day. I hope I'll be able to though.
